LIVES INThe Netherlands
I moved to the Netherlands two and a half years ago for personal and business reasons. Before that I lived in the vibrant city that is Moscow, having graduated there from the Institute of Modern Arts in 2011. I was studying acting for theatre and film, and during the next 10 years I had contracts with various musicals such as “Mamma Mia” in both Moscow and St Petersburg. I travelled once a quarter to play in the musical, “The Hipsters” in the famous Theatre of Nations.
My acting career, which began in 2008, saw me playing in a large variety of TV series, from detectives, dramas, melodramas and mysteries, as well as several smaller roles. All the aforementioned were shown on the big screen during festivals.
During my time in the Netherlands, I’ve busied myself by creating the company, “Let the sunshine in,” and also opened an online school, “Sunny Voices.” I also posed as a model for different photographers and artists, then got an episodic role in the Dutch fiction film, “Life is Wonderful”/“Het leven s Vurrukkulluk” followed up by the role of the mother in a short film, “Exodus,” which was the official selection IFFR 2020 in Rotterdam and Shortcutzz in Amsterdam. Other short film “Sell out” which has been created for festivals will appear soon as well as videoclip where I took part as a lead.
In tandem with my acting career, I’ve enjoyed considerable success with my singing career. In 2019, I participated in the fabled TV show, “All Together Now”. I’ve been actively performing as a solo vocalist in several major Dutch events, which culminated in my being invited as a vocalist with the Basement Big Jazz Band. I’m now enjoying success these last 6 months under my artistic name Daria Zu, and have signed a contract with a Dutch producer and am releasing songs on many international platforms which are available to hear should you so wish.
Recently, I’ve visited the Russian Film Week in both London and Berlin, which inspired me to search for European film opportunities.
