Kolbrun Anna is an Icelandic actress, writer, and classically trained performer with a rich multidisciplinary background spanning screen, stage, and movement.
She began her artistic career as a classical dancer before training at the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating with Honours in 1998. This foundation in movement continues to inform her nuanced, physical approach to acting.
Kolbrun Anna has worked extensively across theatre, film, television, and commercials in Iceland and internationally. She is best known for her leading role as Hannah in the television series Fractures, which she also created and co-wrote for Iceland’s national broadcaster RÚV. The series received multiple award nominations and has been broadcast worldwide.
Alongside her work as a performer, she is an accomplished writer for television and theatre, as well as a published author. She is also the founder of the award-winning Ekka Dance Theatre, with which she performed for over a decade.
Her commitment to artistic development extends into education—she served for over six years as Head of Movement and Drama at the Icelandic Film School, where she also taught movement, acting, and scriptwriting.
With Icelandic and North American Celtic heritage, Kolbrun Anna is bilingual in Icelandic and English, fluent in Danish and Swedish, and highly skilled in accent work, including Standard American and RP. Her international background and interdisciplinary expertise bring depth, precision, and versatility to her work.
